Catalytic Connections

Our relationships. They are the mirrors reflecting back our deepest selves, the canvases upon which we express our desires, fears, and yes, our vulnerabilities. Regardless of whether we be dominant, submissive, or move between any and all of those, those are things we have, as humans. Yet, amongst all types of relationships, there's an undeniable allure to the sexual ones - ones that are often a potent catalyst for self-discovery, liberation, and growth.

What are our relationships, especially the sexual ones, if not catalytic?

They are the crucibles where we dare to venture beyond the confines of societal norms and personal inhibitions. They beckon us to shed the masks we wear in our day-to-day lives and embrace the raw authenticity of our being. It's within these intimate connections that we find the courage to explore the depths of our desires, to confront our shadows, and to bask in the ecstasy of true acceptance.

For many, myself included, these relationships are more than mere physical encounters; they are the sacred and safe spaces where the soul finds solace. They are the arenas we step into where we play out the wildest fantasies of our imagination, where every touch, every kiss, every whispered confession becomes a mark within the masterpiece of our existence.

In the arms of a lover, our one, who accepts us without judgment, we find refuge from the chaos of the outside world. There, we are free to unravel the layers of our identity, to unearth the dormant passions that lie dormant within us. It is a dance of reciprocity, where pleasure is not just physical but transcendent - a merging of bodies, minds, and spirits often explored in blissful abandon.

But beyond the ecstasy of the moment lies a deeper truth: these relationships have the power to transform us. They challenge us to confront our insecurities, to dismantle the walls we've built around our hearts, and to embrace vulnerability as a pathway to liberation, to that freedom of being who we are, how we are, what we are. It is in these moments, where we can discover parts of ourselves we never knew existed, or perhaps knew existed but were hesitant or too fearful to explore.

Yet, for all its beauty, the journey of self-discovery through sexual relationships is not without its pitfalls. It requires courage to navigate the murky waters of desire, to communicate our needs and boundaries with clarity and compassion. It demands honesty - not just with ourselves but with our partners - even when the truth is painful or inconvenient. Even when we may struggle with what that murky water uncovers.

And therein lies the paradox: while these relationships offer us unparalleled freedom, they also demand accountability. They require us to confront the shadows lurking within us - the insecurities, the traumas, the fears that threaten to eclipse our light. But it is in this moment of transformation, and acceptance, that we can find the true essence of ourselves - not just as lovers, but as human beings striving for connection, understanding, and acceptance.  Acceptance to be who we are, how we are, and have the freedom to be that way.

So, what ARE our relationships if not catalytic?

They are the catalysts for our evolution, the alchemists of our souls. They are the vessels through which we discover the infinite depths of our being, the boundless expanses of our potential. However, it is not the physical pleasures or the fleeting moments of ecstasy that define these relationships. It is the profound sense of connection, of being seen and accepted for who we truly are.

It is the knowledge that, in the arms of a lover who embraces us without judgment or inhibition, we are free to explore, to play, to be, to LIVE - authentically, unapologetically, and wholly ourselves.  And that, is something to be embraced, valued, treasured, nurtured.

An unexpected surprise

As I savoured the taste of my extra hot latte before getting stuck into the work on the table in front of me, my glance was drawn to someone walking past the table.

Without needing to look up past waist height, I recognised the walk anywhere. I’d seen those legs walk towards me and away from me often enough. I’d studied them closely, intimately so many times before.

Yes they were often naked, or in stockings, or trying to master the heels I’d make you walk in for my amusement. But I’d still recognise them as I did now, fully clothed, your tailored suit trousers outlining the shape of your body just as they’d always done.

I felt my sharp intake of breath as my mind battled with the thoughts of you being here. That in all the coffee shops, in all of the world and in a random decision I’d made to work from there this morning instead of at home, you were here. That we were here. In the same place. At the same time.

I tried to avert my gaze. I tried to stop myself staring. Yet I couldn’t.

I don’t think I wanted to.

Not really.

I sat back in my chair, picked up my cup, and savoured the coffee as I watched you walk to the counter to order yours. My heart raced despite how hard I tried to suppress it.

It had been how long since I’d seen you?

Years. Yes.

But goodness, it could have been only moments ago.

My eyes couldn’t break their stare. I drank in every part of you just as I drank my coffee and as you started to turn with your coffee in your hand I knew you’d sensed being watched. And for a few seconds the world seemed to stop. There were no sounds. No people. Just you and I. A gaze locked and an electricity that was undeniable.

Your face changed from a moment of shock, of surprise, to the warmth of your smile as your cheeks began to blush and you lowered your eyes.

Fuck!

No matter how much time may have passed, the way you blushed still got me.

The way you looked at me still made me want to touch you, kiss you, hurt you. Your eyes looked for a signal, to know just as you’d always done, whether it was ok to approach. And as I nodded, just as I’d done so many times before feelings coursed through my body.

You sat opposite me and said hello in an almost gentle whisper, you stopped yourself adding Miss to the hello. I smiled at you and at the fact that even after all this time, you naturally stepped into a way of being. It touched me deeply.

A natural silence.

I knew you were going to wait for me to speak, and so I sat back in my chair, watching you, seeing the reactions of your body, your flushing cheeks, your smiling eyes. I remembered what it had been like to hold your face in my hands, to kiss and bite your lips, to whisper ‘Mine’ in your ear. And as memory after memory flooded my mind, we drifted into a conversation like the years between this and our last had never happened.

From the lead lined box

I’ve had reasons to talk about you recently. Sharing the memories and experiences of the FLR that we lived for all those years. I know my words do not really do it justice. I know they do not bring you, I, or ‘we’ to life. And that’s because I don’t want to bring those moments of you and I back to life.

They are a part of life.

But a past life.

The life that was you and I.

I know each part of life we live and the people we may share it with is unique. And I also need to be open, to sharing those things because they’re a part of who I am too.

And, that’s what makes those moments as they are.

They are moments, memories in the recess of the mind. They’re the moments that are placed, like you are, into the lead-lined box that’s high up on the shelf out of reach. They’re the moments that carry such beauty and pain, of submission, service and dominance, yet carry with them the pain that makes the heart hurt in ways that it once felt that heart, MY heart, would never truly feel again.

It is very rare that I go back there really, it’s one of those things that switches between the fondest of beautiful fucking memories, the beauty of your submission, the depths of the feelings we had to the immense pain and loss when all was lost. It is memories of one of those goodbyes in life that I think will always remain because of how hard it was, but also because it wouldn’t have been so hard if what was shared hadn’t been as it was.

In those shared moments you and I could truly be who and how we are, our needs no matter what, were there to be embraced and fulfilled. They are the moments where darkness was embraced and accepted and allowed to come out in the beautiful depraved moments explored together.

Never made to feel less than. You placed me on a pedestal. Adored. Worshipped. You were cared for. Loved. I can still picture the marks on your skin, the way your tears would fall from the corner of your eye and track the same path down your face. I can still hear your words, your pleading, your begging, the sounds you made when your relief was granted. I recall the changing limits that grew with your trust, with your love, with your need to submit as you gave up more and more to me and which I lovingly and totally took. I can see the pain in your eyes as you watched me with him, wishing it were only you and yet accepting that it wasn’t. The twisting of your heart. The marks upon your skin. Of biting your lips, your neck. Of denying you. Of making you suffer and your suffering even more, because you know how much I needed it, yet you know you needed it too.

Yet despite all of these moments.

Beautiful moments.

The worst thing of all, is if I allow myself to, I can still feel the last touch, the last kiss. I can still hear the final goodbye. The last words.

The last breath.

The last sigh.

The last tear.

And that’s not fucking beautiful at all.

And so, in that lead-lined box like a coffin you reside, because my heart can never go back there.

Because I don’t want to.

But I still hope that maybe, one day, there’ll be an opportunity for beautiful memories and beautiful moments to be lived. With someone who has such beauty in their own submission, to feel the depths of what I know is possible, to explore and share the deepest and darkest with them and to create our own unique beautiful memories that take their own special place in the heart and in life.

We may be able to move on from some things, we may even be able to forget others, one thing I cannot forget is who I am, how I am, and what I need.

I truly learned all of that because of you.

And for that, I will always share you in a way that I can. In a way, I hope my heart allows.

With fondness, with truth, with love.

Words for the boys, I've loved. Loved enough to hurt.

Words for the boys, I've loved. Loved enough to hurt.

1. I've never forgotten all of the firsts that you and I shared. The moments, the times, the depravity, the sensuality. I'll never forget that you handed me your heart. as I shared mine. I'll never forget the look in your eyes as we twisted your heart to make it hurt, the pain, the release, the love. I'll never forget how together for so many years, we enabled each other to be the person we were, the person we needed to be, the person we are. I'll never forget all that you gave, all that you took. I'll never forget what might have been, what could have been, but was never meant to be. I'll never forget you. I'll never forget.

2. We were connected you and I, in a way that surprised us both, with a connection that kept bringing us back over so many years, even though we knew that it wasn't meant to be.  I remember the tears that fell as a result of the spanking, the paddle or the twisting of the heart. But most of all, I remember the tears that fell the day that we had to walk away, the tears that came with the final goodbye. I'll always remember that pain, a pain like no other. I'll always remember you.

3. You're included here because I loved you enough to hurt you, the reality is that love wasn't enough. While we did so much more than fuck, you fucked it up. There's nothing else to be said.

4. Oh god. I remember the beauty of your submission.  I remember your touch, your presence, your worship.  I remember your mouth against my toes, my skin, my cunt.  I remember the hours that passed as we talked through the night, of how determined you were to never fall asleep before I, the insomniac. I remember the emotional gifts that you gave to me, the way you permitted me to leave my mark upon your skin, the way you put your life into my hands as I took the breath away from your body.  I remember your acceptance of your place within my life, as I accepted your need to submit as a cuckold boy. I can still hear you beg for me to hurt you. I can still see the hurt and pain in your eyes that filled with love, as your tears fell, while you watched he and I fuck. I can still hear you gag the first time you took his cock into your mouth after it had come from inside of me. I can still hear the words "I'm yours", the sound of your voice, the touch of your hands, the beauty of you as you lay broken at my feet and still wanted more. I can still remember the depths of your submissive self. I can remember the love you had, the love you showed, the love we shared.

5. It infected you. It affected us. A darkness that infiltrated every pore of your being, that led you to wanting to feel pain because it was the only way you could feel. The only time you could physically feel. Emotionally feel. If love or pain was enough to have saved you, you never would have died. I will carry you with me, always.  You were the last I truly loved enough to hurt. But your going left a pain that remains with me still.  My heart carried a love for you then, it will carry it for you always.

Need

“I close my eyes, inhale, and feel a rush of heat and energy that takes my breath away.

It is the feeling of wanting something so much that it borders on an actual need, and the power and urgency of this need overwhelms me.”
Emily Griffin, Love the One You’re With

*This* is one of those times when no other words are needed.  These words, this picture says it all.

The want. The desire. The need....

*sigh*

Burst into flame.

"In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out.  It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being.  We should all be thankful for those peple who rekindle the inner spirit" Albert Schweitzer

I am.

Thankful.

I am also excited.

The flame has been lit, but not only has it been lit, it is burning brightly, strongly.  Quite unxpectedly.

I am thankful for the person who has rekindled MY inner spirit.

For not only has that spirit been rekindled but what was a few months ago a simple connection, a beginnings of a new friendship has been rekindled too.

I am thankful to feel all that it brings to me.

I hear his voice, his words.

I see his submissive need, his vulnerability and it draws me in, it fans the flames.  I see his longing and I find myself drawn to wanting to hurt him.  Not just physically, but in a way that I need - emotionally.

I find myself wanting to reach in to his heart, twisting it, turning it and then soothing away the hurt that my beast, my need has caused him.  It has been a very very long time that someone has quite touched my beast in this way, has touched me in this way.

He has rekindled the inner spirit.  He has awoken my beast.

The flames are burning.  How they wil burn time will tell.  How big the flames will grow we cannot tell the future.  But, my inner spirit has been rekindled, it is burning, brightly.

And I am feeling so many things right now.

And for that, I am thankful!

Need

I need.

To feel that closeness. That intimacy. The intimate moments that come from such simple moments. Moments of closeness.  There is nothing so precious as moments such as this, when there can be such a beautiful closeness.

I need.

That warmth. That bond. That connection. I need to feel the depths of his submission to my dominance.  To feel him, and letting him know from my touch how much he is cherished and in return, I can feel his obsession, his passion, his love.

I need.

Awoken

I've been too busy.  Too busy to get the words down, the thoughts out from the mind onto the page.

I'd like to say it's been from lots of wonderful things; that I've been distracted by a sweet vulnerable submissive boy, that I've been teasing and torturing him, loving and hurting him.

But alas, however nice the thought, that would be a lie.

How I wish that it were not.

Distracted yes.

I have been.  Not in the way I want to be or wish I'd been.  Although I have been lucky enough to communicate with some very wonderful new people of late which brought the year to a lovely end, and indeed has been a great way to start the new.

But, it has, in turn served only to remind me of things that are lacking, things that I need, but it has in a way, made me think, made me realise that I have to take steps to stop things being lacking.

It's not a new years resolution. But yes.  It is. Time.

Unfortunately, the distraction in life has simply been because of life.  The working kind.  The kind that sees you toil through 80+ hour weeks, working at home, in the office, through the night.  A laptop by the bed communicating with people on a different continent when things need to be agreed and closed.  A notepad filled with nothing but meeting notes and lists of things to do.  Lists of lists of things that I needed to do.

Not lists of things I'd love to be doing, that at times, I ache to be doing.  But lists of things that I have to do.

I miss having the time to write.  I miss having the inclination, the motivation, but more so the inspiration.

The inspiration to the words, to feelings, to emotions, to life.

The inspiration that feeds me, fulfils me, balances me.

We enter a new year.

Many things the same as last apart from the two digits at the end of the date.  And yet, many things are different.

The want, the desire for that inspiration in a way that hasn't been there for quite a long time.

I feel the beast prowling.

The emotional sadistic beast.

He prowls.

He has awoken.

He is alive.

Balance rather than equality.

"Some people have confused equality with symmetry, making the assumption that everyone should have the same thing…. Sometimes setting the same rules for both partners simply doesn’t make sense because you are different people who want different things.

In attempting to give each person equality you could lose sight of what each person actually wants.

Work to achieve balance rather than equality." — Tristan Taormino

That's it.

A somewhat simplistic way of looking at why an FLR works, of how a dynamic, a relationship of D/s, or a TPE "fits".  But as simplistic as it may be, it reflects , for me, so much of how it is.

We are not the same. We do not have the same needs, rules that work for one, do not work for another.  I have that need for control, and I need to be with someone who wants to give that control up.  He needs things in the opposite way than I do.  It isn't equal in terms of the power exchange, or in terms of how it works and yet it is so very balanced.

And this is why, for me, an FLR with a power exchange works.

It isn't about equality.  I don't think or look at my partner, as lower than me.  I do not consider them inferior or myself superior.  I don't. At all.

We are equals.

But it is in the depth of the power exchange where that inequality exists, and yet, it is that inequality, which achieves the balance.  Fulfilling both in the way it is needed.

It isn't unequal, it is just balanced differently.  And this is what makes it work.

That is why I love it.  That is why I need it.

House Slaves and House Maids

There was a discussion going over on IC some time ago, talking about house slaves/house maids HERE and I do not think it is surprising that people often wonder what someone can get out of such service.

Some truly fail to see how someone can be fulfilled in this way, although quite often it seems the ones who cannot understand it come into D/s with a completely different outlook as to what it is and what it means to them ~ which is understandable.  If it isn't their thing, if it doesn't fulfill their needs, they aren't likely to fully understand how it can to others.  Some people will make comments because they speak out of ignorance, looking down on people who are fulfilled in such a way.  But simply; they just don't get it.

But, to me, I totally get it.

Totally get that someone can be fulfilled from such a service orientated role.  That they can simply be pleased and have fulfilment from making someone's life easier.  This however, isn't an easy thing to find, there are very few who truly want or who could be at ease within such a role.  It seems that the number of people who search for such, who long or desire such, decreases by the day.  They are certainly quite rare it would appear.

Within that thread, there is a male submissive, who explains what he gets from his service in this way, of how it works for him . . .it seems that the service he provides is such a rare thing, but what stood out for me, is what he gets from it, of how he explains how it fulfills him and his needs.  It goes on to show that it isn't just about having a service submissive, but that it is something quite special.  His words, actually spoke volumes, so much so that I wanted to share it here.

The IC member Lanterne_Rouge  wrote this . . .

I've served in this way for a decade or so, with one Lady in particular for the last few years.

I don't "get off" on housework (as it was described in the original post); it doesn't give me a sexual thrill and at home it's just chores that I do. In normal working life I've got a stressful and senior role. I very rarely actual "do" anything, I'm more often juggling people and other resources or working on strategy and other long term guff, generating excel sheets and powerpoints.

Performing service for a Lady allows me to completely switch this off. I'm usually doing something quite manual for her, and able to focus on quite tightly defined tasks ("Clean the oven") rather than dealing with the uncertainties and open ended work items of my job. I can perform a task, and see it through to completion. I may even get some praise for it if done well. For a while I can simply exist, which is fantastically mentally relaxing even when I'm rushing around scrubbing, polishing, cooking, whatever. There is a real satisfaction in a job well done - and, conversely, real disappointment and shame if she finds something I've missed that she then needs to complain about or punish me for.

Sometimes I work with close supervision (there is nothing that concentrates the mind quite so much as the Lady pacing up and down, flexing a riding crop or paddle and sometimes swatting me if I'm not fast enough, or thorough enough). That tends to be when she is in a more playful mood and wants to enjoy watching me toil for her, and exert her dominance - or if she's just had a rough day at work and wants to work out some pent up aggression.
Other times, I'm told what to do and left to get on with it whilst she goes into her study to catch up on work, or relaxes with a glass of wine and a good book. In this case I may prepare and serve her a meal whilst also ensuring that the kitchen is left spotless (regardless of its state when I arrived) and any other tasks have been completed. In these sessions I may have very little interaction with her.

The goal and satisfaction for me come in seeing that she is feeling relaxed and pampered. There is no expectation or hope that I'll get anything beyond a pat on the head and a thank you as I leave. It feels especially good if she has examined my work and not found any real issues with it.

With the Lady that I've been lucky enough to work for over the last few years there is no intimate service involved - although she knows that I appreciate seeing ladies in general wearing fully fashioned stockings and heels (well, I'm a bloke, aren't I!), so will sometimes wear them when I'm serving her as a treat (always with a decent length skirt, an elegant not a tarty look). This isn't always the case; she may equally often be wearing "slouchy" clothes - jeans and an old t-shirt or jumper chosen purely for comfort rather than looks. I have no expectations or demands on her.
I wear what she tells me to wear, which will usually reflect any particular jobs that she needs doing. That may be workwear (trousers and t-shirt) for hard work DIY/seriously dirty tasks or gardening, or if she fancies some eye-candy as I work around the house doing general cleaning she'll have me wear a short skirt, stockings and heels or perhaps a leather slave harness as the mood takes her.

On the odd occasion that I've been privileged to serve when she's had an evening with a few of the girls around (so ensuring that the house is clean when they arrive, serving drinks and nibbles, cooking & serving food, clearing up afterwards) she's preferred me either in waiter-style black trousers, white shirt and bow tie or alternatively blouse, skirt, stockings and heels depending upon which particular ladies are her guests. Wearing non-street clothes does help me get into the service head space, but is non-essential to my enjoyment.
So, back to the original question - there is a well understood dynamic between us. We both know what we'll get out of the arrangement, and enjoy each others company (often having fits of giggles together rather than behaving strictly in Mistress/servant roles). We sometimes meet socially as equals in a pub or coffee bar just for a natter and a drink. I'd find it hard to serve somebody that I don't like and respect - if that was the case then how could I get my enjoyment from seeing her needs met?

From her point of view, she obviously gets all the nasty jobs done that she dislikes (oven cleaning, floors scrubbed etc.) and any tricky handyman stuff, but beyond that also gets an evening of feeling both empowered and pampered - or if she's working late whilst I'm performing my chores then simply having her life made a little easier during a busy period. One of my best moments - seeing my Lady swell up with pride when one of her guests at the end of an evening said that she wished she had the services of someone like me.

I know that I could quite easily be that guest who said she wished she had the services of someone like him.  Because quite simply, it would just be perfect.  Someone who is able to be of service in this way, to this extent, to be at ease within that role, but more so, not to come with a whole list of wants and needs, but to be fulfilled in the role that he is fulfilling.  That the submissive needs, the needs to serve are met through those chores and tasks.

As I mentioned earlier, people like this, are a very very rare, but special find. Someone else in that thread also says

" think "most" people advertising to be a maid have ulterior motives and that they want a bit of spanking or sex at the end of the cleaning etc....There are very few, like myself who genuinely just wish to clean and make someone elses' life better"

And that is it . . .that hits it right on the head.  The desire to make someone elses' life better.  As it says in the quote above

"the goal and satisfaction for me come in seeing that she is feeling relaxed and pampered. There is no expectation or hope that I'll get anything beyond a pat on the head and a thank you as I leave. It feels especially good if she has examined my work and not found any real issues with it."

It is about not having expectations, of not coming with a tick list of wants and needs that need to be fulfilled as so many seem to think that is the point of submitting, that is what submitting is all about.

For some, it is about that tick list. And for them, that is fine.  This is all about after all, what it is for each of us.

For others, it is far far beyond that.

For me it most certainly is.

But, it was refreshing to see that someone serves in this way and gets their fulfillment from serving, from pleasing.  Not because they have a whole host of expectations to be fulfilled to get that satisfaction. It does go to show, that there are some people out there who share that wavelength, that thought.

If only we could all be as lucky to find this . . . .
