The bitch that is hindsight

"Forgive yourself for not having the foresight to know what now seems so obvious in hindsight" Judy Belmont

Hindsight can be such a bitch right!?

Wouldn't it be great if we had what hindsight gives us so much earlier?

What is it that stops us from seeing things at the time?

Are we really so blind to things?  Are they really that obvious or is it more so, that some people can hide things pretty damn well?

Maybe it's a combination of all of these things, it's not hindsight bias but it's still a bitch!

Sometimes people say we can only do the best with what we know at the time, but what if we did actually know at the time, but just wasn't open to really seeing it?

Who knows!?

Whatever hindsight is a bitch!

  1. Dear Kat,

Hindsight is similar to what you wrote in a blog entry talking about the what ifs in relation to your friends death.

They are things that make us question unnecessarily which makes us doubting ourselves.

Hindsight can be a bitch you're right!

    Yours, as always A x

  2. Thank you for sharing this with us, Kat.

As much as I hate hindsight, it is a damn fine teacher. Er wait, that's pain... through the lens of hindsight.

I know in my own case that wishful thinking is my number one blinder even when my foresight is accurate. That must sound pessimistic but it didn't mean to!

    Take care, Kat.

    1. Thanks Fur,

It is a damn fine teacher, so is pain, so is lots of things.

And hmmm...food for thought. Whether something was/is wishful thinking. Wishful thinking that for once, something may be different.

Guess wishful thinking can be a blinder - so can misplacing trust. It doesn't sound pessimistic, it's given me food for thought as to whether I was blinded by the same in some recent events.

I know some I cannot do anything about as the loss of my friend was not down to me, but as we know, it doesn't stop us looking back and seeing if things were visible, if we did miss things.

      hmmm.....

      Best, Kat
